Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide has congratulated Japanese judoka Takato Naohisa for winning first gold medal in the men’s 60-kilogram category in the Tokyo Olympics. Calling Takato from his office on Sunday, Suga told him that his feat has given hopes and dreams to many children and young people.
The prime minister said he watched Takato in the semi-finals and the final and saw his tenacity and unwavering determination to win. The gold medalist responded that the victory has yet to sink in.
Suga said Takato proudly declared that “This is my judo” in an interview after winning gold. Suga said all the effort Takato put into over the past five years was condensed into that statement. Takato responded it was a long journey.
Takato also said it was worth his efforts, as his family was so pleased with the outcome and many people have sent him congratulatory messages. Japan has move in 2nd position In Olympic 2020 and win the 2 gold medalist in sunday morning.
